Physical description

poplar; red paint overall; back is nailed on; mitre at corners; thin wood; 1/4" lip between top/back and sides; scalloped fretboard; unusual sound hole pattern; 15 frets, 1/4" wide, made of light wire; 4 strings; tuners missing; 2 bent nails for string anchors; fingerboard wear up to 11th fret; scallops on fretboard go completely through; checkerboard pattern on back, and penciled date: "July 8, 1828"
