[Lawrence County Dulcimer #8]

Description

This dulcimer was built by the accordionist Daniel McGee, who lived between West Point and Piney, Tennessee, probably in the late 1800s. His daughter, Beatrice McGee, was born in 1904, and had the box in later years, passing it on to its current owner upon her death.

poplar; maybe red (but worn); slightly rounded corners; 15 frets; 4 strings, very old with a ball end; outside strings are wound strings; new eyescrews for tuners; nail in side of fretboard; slight curve in tin on fretboard; no scalloping, grooving, or notching of side of fretboard; small alternating sound holes
