Physical description
The dulcimer is made of cherry with a smooth finish; hourglass-shaped body, with the upper bout elongated to blend into the headstock, which has a single channel and ends in an upturned scroll; headstock holds 3 hand-carved tuning pegs, likely original to the instrument; thin, lightly incised line outlines the top and back; tailpiece is a 1/4" piece of wood, which extends vertically above fretboard and serves as anchor for strings; 3 ball-end wire strings; nut and bridge are wood; 17 frets, extending the entire width of the fretboard; 4 heart-shaped sound holes, whose bottoms point toward the waist of the instrument; instrument is in excellent condition
