The current owner purchased this instrument from the widow of one Joe Gamble in Huntsville, Alabama. It had been purchased in turn at the same time as fiddles that were from Texas.

some water damage on back; sides and back are flush in most spots; gold paint on top and sides has worn; alternating smaller sound holes in top of instrument, one large sound hole beneath fretboard, and additional sound holes in fretboard itself; sound post located near large sound hole; no noter wear; played with fingers, and the 15 frets are low and smooth; numbers were once present on the fretboard, but have worn away; fretboard is hollowed out; slight scallops unevenly spaced in fretboard
